Nantes Saint-Nazaire Port Saint-Nazaire Agglo CC ESTUAIRE ET SILLON

The local authorities and major industrialists (AILE) of the Nantes Saint-Nazaire Port are developing an energy transition policy with all the port’s industrial players through the “Loire Estuary” ZIBaC low-carbon industrial zone project.

With more than 30 million tonnes of goods in 2022, Nantes Saint-Nazaire is the largest port on the French Atlantic coast and the fourth largest seaport. Energy accounts for the lion’s share of traffic (70%), and the significant greenhouse gas emissions from the industrial zone and port represent a major opportunity for the region’s environmental and economic transition.

The Loire estuary ZIBAC project includes a number of sub-projects related to energy infrastructure and use, the decarbonisation of port flows, environmental resilience, and industrial ecology. A call for tenders for the mass production of hydrogen and the production of electrofuels will be launched in 2023.
